Do you play in the rain?
Instruments are not made to be played in the rain!  Humidity, moisture, and heat all have an effect on instruments, especially strings.  However, the weather usually cooperates and most outdoor weddings are fine.

Can you play in the country?
If you use an ensemble such as piano/violin, the only necessity is access to electricity.  Where there is no access to electricity, we do provide other options.

How long do you play?
For the wedding, the musicians play twenty to thirty minutes of prelude music and whatever ceremony music is needed.  Ceremony music is the music for:  (1) seating of the grandmothers and mothers, (2) attendants’ processional, (3) bridal processional, and (4) recessional.  The unity candle lighting would also be included.  Receptions vary from two to three hours.

Do you dress for the occasion?
Yes.  For the more formal wedding, the attire is tux and black dress.  We do take into account the individual wedding, whether it’s a more casual, outdoor, or formal setting.  For the reception, back dress is usually the standard attire whether using a single pianist or an ensemble or band.

Is it very expensive?
Considering the price of flowers, no, it is not as expensive.  When you talk with people who have attended a wedding/reception/party, the main memory is of the music.  The most important thing is that the music be good.  Remember, for a wedding, your guests will be listening to the musicians during the prelude time – make it worth their enjoyment!

Do I have to select all the music?
Musicians generally have set repertoire for prelude but are flexible if you have a special song which you would like included.   This is a bonus for brides!    We provide songlists for the wedding and the reception to help you in making selections.

How far ahead should I make my booking?
s soon as possible!  Good musicians’ calendars fill fast so once you’ve made the decision – go ahead and confirm the musicians.   A year ahead is not too early.

What kind of group do I need for my reception or party?
It depends on what type reception or party you want.  For heavy dancing, you definitely need to consider a dance band or DJ.  There are a variety of bands available for lighter, background type events from solo piano to jazz trio to dance band.  If your event is in the afternoon or you know that conversation is important for your guests, you will want to stay with the background options.  The main consideration is good music in order to leave a great impression in the ears of your guests.
